I bought a Jaguar Overlocker from Sewing Direct a couple of months ago - and as I've only... used a sewing machine till now, didn't realise that not all overlockers have a seam allowance guide. When Duncan emailed to see how I was getting on, I mentioned this to him and he has been so kind as to send me one. You certainly don't get service like this very often, and I can't recommend the company highly enough!read more

I have recently had my ancient manual Singer sewing machine serviced and I have just used... it for the first time . It has never worked as nicely as this! Thank you very much.
The shop is not hard to find and parking is literally outside. The gentleman who served me who I assume is the proprietor was very helpful and lifted the machine out of my car for me and eventually back into it as it’s too heavy for me these days. So all things considered I’m very pleased I chose this shop to service my machine .read more

Went to look at sewing machines as I am planning to buy one but have zero sewing... experience. Duncan was super friendly and patiently guided me through the different sewing machines available - a nice range is available at the shop - explaining to me some of the basic stuff and the various features coming with the different models. I still haven't decided what I would like to buy but this was still really helpful. Definitely recommend this shop.read more

Excellent service, wanted a concealed zipper foot plus 4mm rolled hem foot for my much... loved 'vintage' Bernina 830. Both feet identified and arrived 48hrs later. All done from my armchair.

My partner wanted to replace an old singer slant machine he had. He saw a Singer... Confidence 7463 on Sewing Directs website but didn't know if it would be right for him. He contacted the shop. The man was polite, friendly & so helpful. He said the machine was easy to use & even ok for beginners. My partner decided to buy the machine. The man even took time to take the address & payment details over the phone.
Straight away we got delivery details & that FedEx would be delivering 48hrs later, that is exactly what happened. From start to finnish it was excellent service, we can not fault it. We would highly recommend the shop & would not hesitate to use them again.

I emailed before I visited, as I had a vintage sewing machine that needed repairing and... wanted to make sure they could get the appropriate parts. The response from the shop was quick, and the man I spoke with was really helpful. I managed to get my repair done in an hour, which was amazing, as was in a rush for it. Purchased from these good people the Jaguar 1015DF Overlocker. I discovered a couple of... very minor problems so I emailed them explaining the problem. Not expecting a reply for some time I was amazed to see they answered within an hour. And my problems were solved immediately. Their customer service goes over the extra mile and you can buy with confidence in the knowledge you will be looked after.read more

Always very helpful when I go in.
I am new to seeing and they've taught me alot and are... never afraid to give me advice!
They never trick you into buying anything you don't need (like many other shops do) and they even recommend stuff to you that they dont supply because they are more bothered about helping you than making quick money and taking advantage.

The Sewing and Knitting Centre did a long overdue service on my rather ancient sewing... machine and did a marvelous job. I used my machine for the first time today and it really purred along where before it was definitely clattering along! They kept me well informed with the progress of the service and it was ready before the promised time. An advantage is the easy parking outside or in adjacent streets. Would recommend them.read more

I found Duncan at Sewing Direct to be extremely helpful and generous in helping me find a... particular set of Dinosaur fat quarters I wanted to purchase. Despite them being out of stock everywhere he was able to source a pack from his suppliers and gave me a 10% discount code. This code turned out to be a £10 off code instead and rather than expecting me to pay more towards my purchase he very generously honoured the £10 off. Duncan at the sewing and knitting centre was always just a click away if I needed any... assistance. Yarn came very quick and was vacuum packed for ease of posting. I have not used it yet but colours are spot on as to sample shown on website. They also do fabric which looks tempting. I would highly recommend this company.read more
